Parents for Public Schools (PPS) parents are leading advocates in shaping education policy at the local, state and national level. PPS parents serve on school boards, help write budgets, and shape state education policy. When it’s time to serve on a school district committee or task force, or to speak out for education fund at the state capital, or to provide a parent perspective on “No Child Left Behind,” PPS parents are organized and equipped to speak out with authority on behalf of all children.
PPS chapters have led the effort to change teacher hiring practices, re-write state education policy, and pushed elected officials for public school funding decisions for the benefit of all children. PPS parents have been elected to local school boards, led marches at state Capitols, and organized successful school bond election campaigns.
In diverse urban school districts, PPS chapters conduct public school enrollment presentations and outreach for thousands of parents in multiple languages, including Spanish, Russian, Somali, and Chinese.
